Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited is creating new benchmarks in eco-restoration of its mined out areas. It is actively pursuing new eco – restoration techniques which are helping accelerate the recovery of the ecological system and integrate it in a sustainable manner.
A recent visit of a team from Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun who visited the eco-restoration site - Bastacolla Area of BCCL found various indigenous and native bushes, trees and grasses growing on the site. Besides, various insects were also being spotted at the site indicating the development of niches for the fauna of the region.
Coal India Limited has made ecological restoration a primary component of its conservation and sustainable development program.
