The first Heap Leach Solutions conference took place in September 2013 in Vancouver and was well attended by 277 delegates from 17 countries. The conference provided a forum for scientists and engineers to share technologies, practices and advances for establishing successful heap leach projects for a range of minerals in a variety of different climates. Papers and presentations addressed heap leaching of gold, copper, uranium and nickel in the full range of climatic conditions from dry to wet, warm to cold. The conference also set out to encourage interaction between heap leach practitioners, researchers and governments from a wide range of disciplines. There was positive energy throughout and a lot of discussion among delegates. We look forward to another successful conference this year in Lima.
