San Juan province is the most important mining province in Argentine Republic. It concentrates the biggest mining projects and offer important business opportunities. Argentina has developed its mining industry fast in less than two decades: several world class projects are in production, and other in different stages.
For almost a decade San Juan is the most important mining province: the geology is backed by a strong governmental support, taking the mining industry as a State Policy. Historically San Juan has been an important producer of lime, mica, feldspar and other industrial minerals, but since 2005 when Barrick's Veladero began production, a new era has started. The reality shows that San Juan has three gold mines in production: Veladero (Barrick), Gualcamayo (Yamana) and Casposo (Troy).
