Workshop on mining

Thiruvananthapuram | March 31, 2014:

New methods need to be developed to extract materials such as titanium, bauxite and granite from areas with high population density. Proper legislation and clear policies have to be implemented for the purpose, according to PH Kurien, Principal Secretary, IT and Industries, Kerala. He was speaking at a workshop organised here by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, State Planning Board and Department of Science and Technology. VN Rajasekharan Pillai, Executive Vice President of the Council, said that the State is blessed with enough resources to fulfil its needs. Primary obstacle to their scientific mining was scarcity of land.
