The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Mangalore, will organise a two-day seminar on ‘Explosives and blasting techniques for mining, quarrying and infrastructure industry’ in Mangalore from September 27.

Addressing presspersons here on Monday, V.R. Sastry, professor of mining engineering at NITK, said the seminar would provide a common platform for mining, civil and geo-technical engineers and others working in explosives and blasting.

Nearly 30 technical papers would be presented in six sessions during September 27-28. Researchers, academicians, engineers, and users from more than 70 organisations would participate in the seminar. Participants from mining companies, infrastructure developers and ports would attend the programme, he said.

Gopal Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Central Coalfields Ltd, and A.K. Debnath, Chairman and Managing Director of Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Ltd, would be the chief guests at the inaugural event on September 27, he said.
