Key Learning Outcomes
The aim of this course is to provide new or relatively new entrants into the uranium industry with key skills and understanding of the uranium ore processing techno-economic fundamentals from mining to producing yellowcake. Participants will learn about the technical and practical aspects of the metallurgical principles and unit operations that are common in uranium processing operations. They will have the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge to the boarder understanding of this industry by:
- Reviewing the history and economical aspects of the uranium industry
- Gaining basic knowledge of uranium mineralogy and its processing characteristics
- Reviewing various types of mining techniques used for uranium mining
- Reviewing the basic unit operations used in uranium mills
- Review of the role of Metallurgical testwork in the design of process circuits, environmental protection and radiation safety aspects of uranium ore processing
- Gaining basic awareness of recent advances and trends in uranium industry
