Awareness Program on "Nasha Mukt Bharat: Pledge Against Drug Abuse"

The Department of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE), in collaboration with the EIACP Programme Centre (RP) and the Society of Environmental Science and Engineering (SESE), organized an awareness program on "Nasha Mukt Bharat" on February 27, 2025.

 

The event took place at the Seminar Hall of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE), where participants collectively took a pledge to fight against drug abuse and contribute towards building a drug-free nation. The English version of the pledge was read by Mr. Rahul Mondal - B.Tech. 2nd year & Co-head of the Research Team, SESE, while the Hindi version was read by Ms. Chanchal Tiwari - B.Tech. 2nd year & Co-Head, Finance and Outreach Team, SESE.

 

The program witnessed active participation from faculty members, technical staff, UG/PG students, and research scholars, with a total of 38 attendees. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about the harmful consequences of all forms of addiction and inspire individuals to take responsibility for building a healthier and addiction-free society.

 

In alignment with the Mission LiFE: Lifestyle for Environment initiative, the event also emphasized the importance of adopting a sustainable and healthy lifestyle as a means to combat addiction and promote overall well-being. Participants were encouraged to embrace fitness activities, yoga, meditation, and nutritious dietary habits as proactive steps towards a healthier life. Discussions highlighted how mental and physical well-being are interconnected with sustainable living practices, emphasizing the idea that a balanced lifestyle reduces dependency on harmful substances and fosters a healthier community.

 

By taking the pledge, participants reaffirmed their commitment to making India a "Nasha Mukt Bharat" and becoming role models of a drug-free future. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Alok Sinha – HOD, Dept. of ESE & Coordinator, EIACP (PC-RP), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
