Smart Mining & Green Energy: Industry Institute Interaction 2025

On February 2nd, the Industry Institute Interaction 2025: Smart Mining, Critical Minerals, and Green Energy took place at the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) – IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, bringing together leaders from the mining and innovation sectors to discuss the role of critical minerals in the global energy transition. The India-Brazil Chamber of Commerce participated by giving a presentation during the event, also representing our member Bemisa, and reinforced the potential for collaboration between Brazil and India in the sustainable supply of strategic minerals.

Critical Minerals: Global Trends & India’s Position

 

At a time when India is accelerating its energy transition and investing heavily in securing critical mineral supply chains, the conversation on sustainable sourcing, strategic partnerships, and technological innovation has never been more important.

 

Dana Blackman, Head of the India Office at the India Brazil Chamber of Commerce, emphasized Brazil’s strategic role in the global supply chain of critical minerals and the vast opportunities for deeper collaboration with India. Speaking on a panel at the pivotal Smart Mining & Green Energy: Industry Institute Interaction 2025 event held at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on 02nd February 2025, she highlighted how Brazil—with its rich reserves and expertise in sustainable mining—can be a key partner in supporting India's ambitions in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and beyond. Representing the Câmara de Comércio Índia Brasil | India Brazil Chamber of Commerce and its partner, Bemisa Holding S.A., Dana Blackman reinforced the importance of sustainable sourcing, strategic partnerships, and technological innovation in securing critical mineral supply chains.

 

The event brought together key industry leaders, including Adani Group, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd., Tata Steel, JSW Cement, and others, fostering an invaluable platform for cross-sector dialogue. As the world shifts towards decarbonization, electric mobility, and next-generation industries, strengthening India-Brazil cooperation in critical minerals is not just an opportunity—it is a necessity for building a more resilient and sustainable global economy.
