The two-day residential Workshop focused on developing Training Modules on Land Acquisition (LA) and Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) commenced at Indian Institute of Coal Management Ranchi, on 18th December 2024. The workshop was inaugurated by Sri Satish Jha, Director (Technical), Central Mine Planning & Design Institute in the presence of Dr. Kamakshi Raman, Executive Director, IICM.
Dr. Kamakshi Raman delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting Sri Satish Jha sir and the participants. She emphasized the significance of focused initiatives like this workshop, which provide a platform for executives to share their experiences and challenges. She underscored the importance of tailoring innovative solutions to address the pressing issues in land management faced by CIL subsidiaries.
In his keynote address, Sri Satish Jha highlighted the critical role of land as a foundational asset for Coal India Limited, stating that the company’s operations depend heavily on its efficient management. Drawing from his extensive experience, he discussed strategies for resolving challenges related to land acquisition, rehabilitation, and resettlement. He also emphasized the importance of empathetic communication in addressing these sensitive matters, fostering trust and smoother resolutions. The workshop is being coordinated by Sri A.K. Sinha, Chief Manager (Mining), and Sri Mohit Jain, Manager (Systems), IICM, ensuring its smooth execution and success.
