Coal India Organizes Workshop on Safety & Health Management System Audit

Coal India organised a seminar on implementation of guidelines circulated by Ministry of Coal on Safety & Health Management System Audit and Capacity Development of Auditors at its corporate office in Kolkata.

 

Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary Coal, addressed the audience and commended CIL on its exemplary performance in FY24. She also stressed the need of ensuring everyone's safety and the fact that every life is valuable. She further stated the need to conduct regular audits of all the mines in terms of the safety and health management guidelines of the Ministry of Coal.

 

Shri P.M. Prasad, Chairman, CIL, speaking on the occasion underscored the importance of adopting best practices in Safety and aiming towards zero harm. He reiterated the need to implement the guidelines on Safety and Health Management System Audit as well as raising safety awareness and changing people's mindsets.

 

Dr. B. Veera Reddy, CIL's Director (Technical), emphasized the importance of cultivating a culture of compliance. He noted that mining is extremely complex, with new issues emerging on a daily basis, necessitating careful adherence to norms. He emphasized that accidents can be avoided if an attitude of compliance is followed.

 

Shri Mukesh Chowdhury, Director Marketing, CIL, Shri Mukesh Agrawal, Director Finance, CIL and Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy, Chief Vigilance Officer, CIL, Shri T.K. Nag, Chairman of the Expert Committee, Former CMD NCL, Prof R.M.
