EIACP (PC-RP) on Environmental Problems of Mining

Under the guidance of Prof. Anshumali, HOD/ESE and coordinator, IIT(ISM) EIACP(PC-RP), a team of officials from IIT(ISM) EIACP (PC-RP) (Mr. Bishwajit Das, Information Officer & Mr. Durga Das Chandra, IT Officer) and Research Scholars (Mr. Sanchit Kumar, Senior Research Fellow, Mr. Rahul Kumar Pandey, Project Assistant and Ms. Roja Eliza, Research Scholar) from Department of Environmental science and engineering, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, on 20th March 2023, visited various schools located in villages of Sonbhadra district of UP and organized Awareness Programme on Mission LiFE: Lifestyle for Environment. During this awareness programme students, teachers and staffs were informed about the 7 themes of Mission LiFE and the comprehensive and non-exhaustive list of 75 individual LiFE actions across 7 categories of Mission LiFE were discussed. Students were encouraged on adopting sustainable lifestyle practices for a sustainable environment and become Pro-Planet-People by choosing Environment Friendly Alternatives. During the programme videos on Mission LiFE's 7 themes were shown, awareness materials/posters highlighting the 7 themes of LiFE Mission and A-Z Lexicon of LiFE were distributed to promote sustainable lifestyle for environment. The participants were also told about the need to bring behavioral changes among individuals for significant impact on the environmental and climate crises. Students were informed about the ongoing Drawing, Poster and Short-Film making competition under 7 themes of LiFE Mission that is being organized by IIT(ISM) EIACP (PC-RP) and were encourage to participate and showcase their ideas and creative artwork on sustainable lifestyle for environment. Different activities like, quiz and extempore competition were organized among students. Certificates and prizes were given to the students who all performed well in the competition. At the end of the programme all students, teachers and staff members of the schools took the Lifestyle for the Environment Pledge and recited the mantra of Mission LiFE, "Prakriti Rakshati Rakshita", that is, those who protect nature, nature protects them".
