CMPDI Organised Workshop on 'Capacity Building Programme'
CMPDI under the aegis of Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India, organised a Workshop on ''Capacity Building Programme'' to boost the pace of Coal Exploration in North Eastern Region (NER), for the resource estimation, identifying the potential area for mine projection and systematic production of Coal to meet the energy requirements of NER for sustainable development of that area in Shillong, Meghalaya on 06.03.2023.
In the Inaugural Session, CMPDI through a presentation apprise the state-wise Coal bearing areas, exploration status, efforts taken by CMPDI & MoC in the past to enhance the exploration in NER, achievements till date and the approximate fund available for Regional & Detailed Coal Exploration for NER.
Shri Anandji Prasad, Advisor (Projects), MoC, Govt. of India; Shri E. Kharmalki, IAS, Secretary (Mines & Geology), Govt. of Meghalaya, addressed the gathering. Shri Arjun Hembram, GM (Exploration), CMPDI welcomed the guests & delegates. Shri Rajiva Kumar Singh, Chief Manager (Geology), CMPDI delivered a presentation on coal bearing area, exploration status & coal resources in NER and Model Tender Document.
The state-wise discussion held with respective State Governments, Directorate of Geology & Mines, on ‘Coalfields & Coal resources of NER', ‘Coal Exploration & challenges in NER’ and ‘Coal Resource Estimation’. An action plan was drawn to take up the exploration through departmental resources or through outsourcing.
A road map was prepared state-wise for initiation of coal exploration and proper utilization of Central Sector Scheme (CSS) fund of MoC from 2023-24 and onwards. This Workshop may lead to enhance the pace of Coal Exploration in NER.
This workshop was attended by Mr. Tasser Talar, Director, Geology & Mines, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh; Mr. David D. Sangma, Director (Mineral Resources), Govt. of Meghalaya; Mrs. Barnalee Nath, Dy. Director, DGM(Assam); Mr. Arjun Hembram, GM (Exploration), CMPDI; Mr Rajiva Kr.Singh, Chief Manager (Geology), CMPDI; Dr. R. P Singh, Sr. Manager (Geology), CMPDI; Mr Pankaj Sahu, Manager(Geology), CMPDI; Mr. M. Bhaskaran, GM (Exploration), MECL; other eminent geo-scientists from DGMs of 5 State Governments (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland) of NER, Exploration Agencies, Coal Mine Owners from Meghalaya, etc,.
