Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) organized a virtual dialogue for the local tribal farmers under the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations. During the program, the eminent agricultural experts from Indian Universities and other related fields interacted with the local farmers and guided them towards the sustainable and profitable agro-practices. Around 50 local farmers joined the program and interacted with the experts.

Dr Jagveer Rawat, Ex-Professor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Agricultural University, Hisar and current President of "Federation of Indian Chamber of Agriculture, Trade and Services" (FICATS) guided the farmers on soil enrichment, organic farming, sustainable and profitable agriculture methods etc . He also discussed in detail on creating a sustainable future for tribal farmers and their families through organic farming.During this, other experts of agriculture sector also interacted with the farmers.

During the program, it was also discussed to establish a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) for the tribal farmers of Singrauli. This FPO will help the local small farmers in processing, packaging and adding value to their agricultural products along with market linkage. Farmers will also be trained on modern agro-practices under this scheme.

With the help of FPO, special agricultural products of Singrauli district like Maize, Arhar, Urad, Tisi, Linseed, Mustard, Bajra (Sama, Kodo), Chironji, Ginger, Bitter gourd etc will reach to the right customers.

NCL, under the "Kisanganga" campaign, is training the local farmers in the latest and sustainable farming practices to increase the income of the farmers and ensure a sustainable future for them.

It is worth mentioning that under the Kisanganga project, NCL has developed a community hall located in nearby village Birkuniya, and developed it as a satellite center with technical support from NCL-IIT-BHU Incubation Centre. Here farmers, women and children of the nearby villages are given free training in organic, sustainable and latest farming practices, packaging of agricultural products, food processing and marketing etc.

The main hall of this center is equipped with video conferencing facility, from where local farmers can interact with the experts from any agricultural university or higher technical institute of the country and get the solution for the problems related to agriculture. Under Kisanganga, an online portal has also been started to ensure the direct reach of agricultural products to the customers.
