04 Sept - 06 Sept 2016: 10th Indian Coal Market Conference

September 04, 2016 - September 06, 2016 | Kolkata, India

Hyatt Regency, Kolkata

WHAT IS THE INDIAN COAL MARKETS CONFERENCE ?

The Indian Coal Markets Conference is the leading annual gathering of the Indian policymakers, coal producers, traders, shipping and logistics companies, consultants and consumers from the Aluminium, Steel/Sponge Iron, Cement and Power Generation Companies.

The Indian coal market has seen dramatic changes over the last one year. After years of stagnated growth, coal production has surged by almost 9% in 2015-16. Coal India Ltd, the major supplier of raw coal, looks set to achieve an ambitious production target of 1 billion tons by 2019-20. However, the sudden spurt in output has come hand in hand with a sharp decline in India Inc.’s appetite for the fuel. This has resulted in high stockpiles and low off-take, raising questions over the justification of further ramp up of capacity in power and coal sectors.

A major fallout of surplus production in India has been a significant reduction in steam coal imports by the country – a development that poses concern for the international coal community which is already under pressure from low prices and China’s withdrawal from the market.

Meanwhile, the Indian government is pushing hard for structural changes and reforms, expecting the economy to respond to its desperate calls.

So, will a turnaround in industrial growth revive coal demand in the mid-term? Will CIL revise its production targets? Will the re-allocated captive coal blocks resume production? Will there be a correction in international prices? How will the Indian power sector perform? How will coal deal with the green challenges? What will be fuel of choice in coming years?

Come and join us to get a thorough insight into the Indian coal sector. Listen to the industry stalwarts and policymakers. And, of course, network with a large number of industry captains from coal and allied industries.
