CII launches ‘Sapling Project’ to mark World Environment Day

 

Jamshedpur | June 06, 2015:

 

CII Yi Jharkhand Chapter celebrated World Environment Day by launching “The Sapling Project” in association with JUSCO (under Hariyali Mission) and Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA) for the Adityapur region on this day.

 

The project will go on for a year whereby CII would be providing around 1000 saplings free of cost to every citizen who promises to take care of them for the next two years. Thereafter the trees can take care of themselves.

 

On the Occasion Vishal K Agarwalla, Chair, Yi Jharkhand Chapter gave welcome address and said that World Environment Day has received tremendous support from the public, non profit organizations and government around the world.

 

Various campaigns such as this, are organized to spread the message, which is to improve the quality of life of all living beings on this planet without harming nature. All the activities of World environment day revolves around eco awareness and increasing green – footprint.

 

Young Indians are proud to be part of such an initiative.

 

Adarsh Agrawal, Chairman, CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council & Managing Director, Jamipol Ltd was the Chief Guest of the session. He said Our Environment is stressed with the need for more and more resources and we can balance to a great extent by recycling the manufactures products.

 

Each gram of e-waste can potentially damage the environment 10 times more than the regular type of waste. He focused on the e waste awareness program and said along with the plantation of tress, e waste awareness is equally important to save our environment.

 

Mr Agrawal encouraged Yi Jharkhand Chapter to take the initiative of planting 1000 saplings throughout the year and also encouraged the present industrialists to plant trees in their factory premises as much as then can so that number reaches to 10000trees from 1000. Mr Agrawal extended his support to Yi Jharkhand Chapter for stepping out such a wonderful initiative in the industrial area.

 

S N Thakur, Outgoing President , ASIA and Inder Agarwal, President elect, ASIA were also there in the occasion to support the initiative for World Environment day. Mr Thakur said E Waste can damage the Land, Water & Air when it is not properly recycled.

 

Handling over your used e-equipment to an unauthorized/ street side vendor may bring people some ​money but rob us off a much valuable part of our future environment.

 

He also encouraged the audience by saying its worth only when we celebrate environment day throughout the year and plant trees regularly, keeping the environment safe for our next generation.
