5th edition of Nation's Biggest conference 'ICOMS 2022' concluded in NCL

The 5th edition of the Nation's Biggest conference on Open Cast and Sustainability concluded in NCL on Tuesday. The Mega event witnessed the participation of 550+ mining professionals, academicians, manufacturers, and service providers. 80 Papers were received at the conference on vivid mining topics.

 

During the Valedictory session CMD and FDs NCL, HODs/ Area GMs, Mining professionals, academicians, Exhibitors, and all the delegates remain present.

 

Addressing the valedictory session of the conference, CMD NCL Shri Bhola Singh Praised the paper presenters & termed that research papers are very precise hence takeaways may be easily deciphered & viable recommendations should be practiced in time bound manner. He congratulated Team NCL for its Stellar performance in 2022-23. Calling the year 2023-24 a more challenging one he exhorted for concerted & synergetic efforts from team NCL for attaining the assigned goals. He congratulated the organizers of ICOMS for making it a huge success.

 

Speaking on the occasion Director (Technical/Operations), NCL Dr. Anindya Sinha said Coal Mining is witnessing a drastic change from manual to mechanize to digitize & future will be for automated coal Mining. The feasible Takeaways of ICOMS must be implemented in opencast Mining in true spirit.

 

While addressing the conference in the valedictory session, Director (Personnel) Sh Manish Kumar said that ICOMS will bring laurels for NCL and CIL in the upcoming future. He thanked all stakeholders for their contribution to making ICOMS a grand success. In the program, Director (Finance) Sh Rajneesh Naraian said that this is a unique conference, a true example of industry-academia collaboration. This conference will pave the path for cost efficiency in mining.

 

Director (Technical/Project& Planning) Shri Jitendra Malik said Technical intervention is transforming coal from a traditional energy source to a sustainable clean energy source. ICOMS will usher in to implement of the new technology in Opencast Mining.

 

Speaking from the podium Professor Sh. S S Rai said that such type of conference is capable to bridge the gap between academic practices & industrial practices. More & more academician should join such conferences to know the problem of industry empirically.

 

Convener of the conference Shri Satish Jha, Shri Bhartendu Kumar, Shri P D Rathi Co-Convenors, Coordinators, and the entire organizing team of the conference made the ICOMS a grand success.

 

Green is the new black-

 

On the 2nd day Session of ICOMS 2022, 20 Research papers were presented which majorly based on the topics related to Opencast Mines towards a new energy Paradigm, Environment Management, Conservation & Sustainable Solutions for Opencast Mines, Opencast Mining towards Optimization and Diversification.

 

During this session, Research papers on Green is the new black, soil resistivity of substations, Coal mines illuminations and haul road lighting solutions, Reducing power consumption to enhance energy efficiency and energy conservation, Preparation and precaution from Monsoon hazards, minimization of dust generation by increasing water sprinkler productivity, assessment of air pollution with day to day atmospheric analysis, providing a sustainable future with various reclamation plans including economic development model, establishing solar farms, delivering CSR activities based on providing necessary skill enhancement training to PAPs, empowering women, etc. were highlighted.

 

The Conference also held a special session for exhibitors in which 12 multinational giants presented the new age product and technology for coal mining. The solution aims to improve production and productivity with digitalization and safety promoting holistic sustainable mining.
