UCIL and JLSA organizes public awareness workshop

Jadugora: A one day public awareness workshop was organized at Narwa Pahar Residential Colony here on Monday under the joint aegis of Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) and Jharkhand Legal Services Authority. On this occasion, UCIL authorities informed the participants about the ways to ensure high level safety, environmental conservation during mining, projects implemented under corporate social responsibility (CSR) and initiatives taken by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in the field of environment and health.

 

The DLSA team comprised additional district judge Radha Krishna, secretary BK Lal, Santosh Anand, Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Ghatsila and Dr Mrityunjay Kumar, secretary of Indian Medical Association. Speaking as the chief guest, Radha Krishna said that a majority of people failed to get justice in want of legal assistance.

 

Such people keep running from pillar to post in search of justice, he said, adding that the Supreme Court has formed legal services authority at state and district level to provide legal assistance to such people. “Poor and needy people are given free legal assistance by the DLSA and JLSA. The panchayat representatives and social activists should bring poor people and victims of injustice to the DLSA office on the court premises so that they may be given free legal assistance and consultation,” said the chief guest.

 

Among those present during the programme included head of the awareness programme AK Sarangi, GM, Corporate Planning, Dr VK Jha, in-charge of BARC, Falguni Sarkar, RK Mishra, additional manager D Hansda, PK Nayak, Sukurmuni Tudu, block head of Potka, Pranav Roy, Gajia Hansda, DN Singh and Sudhir Soren.
