National Seminar on “Recent Approaches to Water Resource Management (RAWRM -2013)

Dr. Prasoon Kumar Singh, Associate Professor and Convener Centre of Mining Environment, Indian School of Mines organized two days National Seminar on “Recent Approaches to Water Resource Management (RAWRM -2013)” during 9th -10th, December 2013 with a primary focus on issues related to our country’s growing needs of freshwater requirement and also to foster a strong cooperation among industry, academic institutions and research institutes. We hope your participation will make this event fruitful and glorious for all the participants.

 

 

We observed an excellent response to our call for participation in the conference across India. As many as 42 papers have been accepted for Oral Presentation out of the 70 received papers. Acceptance of the papers has been taken on the basis of the recommendation of the eminent reviewers and subsequent recommendations of the technical program committee. Papers have been categorized in five different areas like - Mining and their Impact on Groundwater, Groundwater Quality, Groundwater Pollution and Remedial Practices, Groundwater Management and Modeling. Total five technical sessions were conducted out in two days national seminar, three technical sessions were carried out on 9.12.2013 and two technical sessions were carried out on 10.12.2013. Before each technical sessions one keynote lecture was delivered by eminent academicians, Engineers, scientists etc. Total 42 research papers have been presented in this seminar.

 

In two days tenure topics like groundwater resources management, impact of urbanization and mining activities on groundwater resources, surface and groundwater problems, remote sensing and its application to water resources management, impact of climate change on groundwater resources have been covered.

 

All the papers presented in this seminar will benefit the academicians, industry people and the researchers in the areas of Water Resource Management.

 

The chief guest of the inaugural function were Sri S.K. Satpathy(I.A.S.), Principal Secretary ( Personnel) Reforms & Rajbhasa . The Guest of Honour for the inaural session were Shri T.K. Lahiry, Chairman Cum-Managing Director BCCL and Dr. Dipankar Saha, Regional Director CGWB, Patna.

 

The chief guest of the valedictory function were Prof. T. Kumar, Director, NIT, Durgapur . The Guest of Honour for the valedictory session were Shri Prabhat Kiran, Chief Engineer (Civil) DVC, Maithon and Dr. P.Pal. Roy, Director, CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur.
