The IIT(ISM) EIACP (PC-RP), Department of ESE, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad organized awareness programmes and outreach activities under Mission LiFE at three schools located in Barmasia and Katrasgarh area of Dhanbad district, Jharkhand, on 09.11.2023. Students, teachers and staffs of the schools participated in the event and were sensitized on adopting sustainable lifestyle practices for a sustainable environment and encouraged to become Pro-Planet-People by choosing Environment Friendly Alternatives. During the programme students were sensitized about Mission LiFE. Awareness materials, posters, creatives and A-Z Lexicon of LiFE highlighting the 7 themes of LiFE Mission were distributed to promote sustainable lifestyle for environment. The participants were also told about the need to bring behavioral changes among individuals for significant impact on the environmental and climate crises. Students were informed about the ongoing online Mission LiFE Drawing Competition under 7 themes of LiFE Mission that is being organized by IIT(ISM) EIACP (PC-RP) and were encourage to participate and showcase their ideas and creative artwork on sustainable lifestyle for environment. At the end of the programme all students, teachers and staff members of the school took the Lifestyle for the Environment Pledge and recited the mantra of Mission LiFE, "Prakriti Rakshati Rakshita". Mission LiFE Cotton/Jute bags were distributed among the teachers and staff of the school encouraging all to use these cloth bags instead of plastic bags with the vision to reduce use of single use plastics. Tree Plantation Programme under Mission LiFE Awareness Campaign was also conducted by IIT(ISM) EIACP (PC-RP) in which all the Teachers, Staff and Students participated and being a collective responsibility of every individual, contributed towards a greener and more sustainable future by planting a tree. Around 300 students, teachers, and staff participated in the programme and were sensitized on Mission LiFE. Around 150 students, teachers, and staff from Rajkiyakrit Madhya Vidyalaya, Barmasia Dhanbad and 30 students, from GNM +2 School, Katrasgarh participated in the programme and were sensitized on Mission LiFE.
