IIT(ISM) EIACP (PC-RP) organized a keynote lecture on 18th January 2023 at Department of ESE, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. At the outset of the programme Prof. S.K. Gupta (Professor, Dept. of ESE) welcomed the guests and participants. Prof. S.K. Gupta said that rain water harvesting is a community impact project which is very much essential to address the environmental challenges in India. The invited keynote speaker Mr. Max Odentha (KreTa, Germany) was felicitated with a flower bouquet by Prof. Anshumali (HOD, Dept of ESE & Coordinator, IIT(ISM) EIACP (PC-RP)). Prof. Anshumali said that by incorporating rainwater harvesting and other such sustainable practices into our lifestyle we can create a more sustainable environment for us and future generation outlining the 7 themes under Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) lunched by Hon'ble Prime Ministry Shri Narendra Modi. Mr. Max Odentha (KreTa, Germany) delivered a lecture on "High Infiltration rate rain water harvesting system.". In his lecture Mr. Max Odentha spoke about the importance of rain water harvesting system as an important tool for mitigating the impact of climate change and a step towards sustainable water management solutions. Mr. Max Odentha said how rain water harvesting system can help in reducing the risk of flooding in flood prone areas by capturing the rainwater and allowing it to infiltrate into the ground, reduce the strain on municipal water supplies and provide a sustainable source of water for non-potable uses.
