EIACP (PC-RP) on Environmental Problems of Mining

The Department of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE), IIT(ISM) Dhanbad in association with IIT(ISM) ENVIS Centre organized a Three Days Hands-on Training Programme on "Groundwater Flow and Contaminant Transport Modeling in GMS Software" for the undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad from 07th June 2022 to 09th June 2022. This training programme was conducted at NLHC Computer Lab-1 and was attended by 25 nos. of participants.

Prof. Anshumali, Head, ESE Department and Coordinator, IIT(ISM) ENVIS Centre, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad inaugurated the training programme. Prof. Anshumali in his inaugural address talked about the importance of groundwater modeling and how it can help them in the academics and research activities of the respective participants. Prof. Tinesh Pathania, Assistant Professor, ESE Department and the Training Programme Convener welcomed all the guests and the participants and briefed about the training schedule and the topics that will be covered in the 3 Days Hands-on Training Programme. Mr. Sachin Patil, Technical Manager, from Aditi Infotech, Nagpur took this training session for three days and demonstrated the different applications of GMS (Groundwater Modeling System) Software.

The training programme concluded on 9th June 2022. A Q&A session was conducted with the participants. At the end of the programme, Prof. Anshumali and Prof. Saifi Izhar awarded the training completion certificate to all the participants. Mr. Sachin Patil, Technical Manager, from Aditi Infotech, Nagpur was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation by Prof. Tinesh Pathania for his valuable time and taking three sessions of this training programme. Prof. Tinesh Pathania at the end, in his vote of thanks, acknowledged the Faculty Research Scheme (FRS) of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad to provide the financial support to purchase GMS Software, Prof. Abhishek Kumar Singh, Acting Dean (Information Systems) and Prof. Badam Singh Kushvah, Associate Dean (Network and Systems) for allocating the NLHC Computer Lab-1 to conduct this training programme.
