TATA Steel organized a webinar on the occasion of World Environment Day 2022 on 30th May 2022. Prof. Anshumali, Head of the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and Coordinator, IIT(ISM) ENVIS Centre was the invited Guest Speaker for the event. Prof. Anshumali delivered a talk on "Disappearing Land Diversity and Biodiversity: Impact on the Holocoenotic Nature of Ecosystems". He spoke about the adverse impact of mining of minerals, which causes change in topography, desertification due to removal of topsoil and huge overburden, wiping away the land diversity & biodiversity, damaging the aquifer, creating air and water pollution and brings involuntary displacement of human beings. Prof. Anshumali's lecture highlighted the inevitable reasons for such damages and how to reconstruct the area back to life through proper planning and implementation.
