IIT (ISM) Dhanbad signed MoU with Orica, Australia on 10.12.21 where in IIT(ISM) will receive 40 licenses of BlastiQ software suite including
- SHOTPlus™ Premier – for blast design and modelling in surface mines / quarries
- SHOTPlus™ T – for blast design and modelling in tunnels and headings
- SHOTPlus™ - for blast design and modelling in underground product blasting
- Powersieve™ – for fragmentation analysis
Worth of Rs 1,23,62,500/- to be received free of cost for our UG and PG students. We will also be working on the joint R&D projects and on joint outreach programmes.
The MoU was signed by Prof Shalivahan, Dean (R&D) from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, and Mr Ankit Saxena, Technical Services Manager from the Orica side. It was presided by Director, Prof Rajiv Shekhar, Other members who were present on the occasion included Prof A K Mishra, Head, Department of Mining Engineering, Prof Dheeraj Kumar, Dean (IIE), Prof B S Choudhary from IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and Mr Alok Rai, Manager Digital Initiatives, Orica and Mr Peter Leckie, Global Sr Manager, Digital initiatives virtually from Melbourne, Australia. Prof Rajiv Shekhar emphasised on the importance of join collaborative R&D projects and the digitalisation initiatives in mining process in general and in rock blasting in particular.
It will foster translational collaborative R&D projects beneficial for the industry, outreach programmes and student internships.
