Shri.P.Kandaswamy, IPS, Director General of Police and Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) Dept., Government of Tamil Nadu addressing at the inaugural function of Vigilance Awareness Week-2021 at Neyveli.
In line with the directions of Central Vigilance Commission, NLCIL is observing Vigilance Awareness Week 2021 from 26.10.2021 to 01.11.2021 on the theme“Independent India@75: Self Reliance with Integrity”.
The Inauguration Function of Vigilance Awareness Week 2021 was conducted on 26.10.2021 at 11.00 AM at Yegneswaran Auditorium, Learning Development Centre,NLCIL, Neyveli.
Shri.P.Kandaswamy, IPS, Director General of Police and Director, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Government of Tamil Nadu participated as the Chief Guest.
Shri. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NLCIL presided over the function. Shri.R.Vikraman, Director/HR, Shri.Shaji John, Director/Power, Shri. Jaikumar Srinivasan, Director/Finance and Shri.L.Chandrasekar, IFS, CVO/NLCIL graced the occasion.
Shri.S.Gurusamynathan, Chief General Manager/Vigilance delivered the Welcome Address. As a mark of Inauguration a Kuthuvilakku was lit up by the Chief Guest, CMD, Functional Directors and CVO. 7The Integrity Pledge in Tamil, Hindi and English respectively were administered by S/Shri.R.Vikraman, Director/HR, Shri.Shaji John, Director/Power and Jaikumar Srinivasan, Director/Finance.
Messages on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week 2021 from Hon’ble President,Hon’ble Vice-President, Hon’ble Prime Minister and Central Vigilance Commission were read.
CVO/NLCIL released a handout containing the Vigilance Awareness Week 2021 message to the Dignitaries on the Dias and the participants. NLCIL’s e-Auction,Contracts and Purchase Portal NeAT was launched by the Chief Guest.
In his over view on Vigilance Awareness Week 2021, CVO had detailed the various activities and initiatives that are being conducted during Vigilance Awareness Week and also about Lecture and Seminars being arranged.
He highlighted on the overwhelming response to the short film competition wherein 26 Nos. of short films have been received and about the State wide Online Quiz competitions conducted in association with the Hindu Tamil Thisai, for which around 6500 students have made registration for participation.
Online meetings with Vendors, Customers and Contractors are arranged.He also informed that NLCIL employees and other stake holders from various locations are using their photographs using the photo frame in the virtual wall of NLCIL Website and Intranet expressing their Solidarity with Integrity to fight against corruption.
In his presidential address Shri.Rakesh Kumar, CMD had stated about the role of Central Public Sector Undertakings in promoting self-reliance through indigenization by encouraging local Vendors and Manufacturers for Operation, Maintenance and Projects of Public Enterprises.
He said that Integrity is inbuilt in various processes. He mentioned that from a modest purchase of Rs.2.21 Crores using Government e-Marketing (GeM) in 2018-19.
NLCIL has achieved a purchase for Rs.204 Crores for the 1st half of the Financial Year 2021-22. Shri.Rakesh Kumar also informed that NLCIL are pro-actively encouraging Skill development especially in Mining sector.
He appreciated the role of Vigilance Branch in NLCIL for their constructive suggestions for Systemic Improvement in process related to various areas of NLCIL, which are implemented in the right earnest by NLCIL Management.
Shri.P.Kandaswamy, IPS, Chief Guest in his Inaugural Address underlined that the purpose of human life has to be for happiness than in race for power, authority and money.
He emphasized that Vigilance at individual level and Vigilance at Organizational level are very much essential. As the stake holders have become very much aware of what is happening in various Government Departments and organizations through Media, Social-Media, etc. complaints happen instantly. Further, he stated that even internal stake holders will not be tolerant towards corruption due to various reasons.
The Organizations should use more and more technology especially in all functions and in particular in Purchase and Contracts to ensure integrity and transparency so that the scope for corruption is eliminated.
After delivering his Inaugural address, Chief Guest inaugurated the Integrity Chariot and Flagged it Off.Shri A. Eraniyan, General Manager and Technical Secretary to CVO proposedthe Vote of Thanks.
