Professional Development Program & Study Tour on “Management of Social & Environmental Issues of Mining” under the capacity building program of The World Bank aided Project on ‘Sustainable Development of Mineral Resources in Afghanistan Mining Sector’ was organized by Professor Gurdeep Singh during May 21-31, 2012. Apart from the interactive sessions on EIA, SIA, ESIA, SEA, REIA, Social and R&R aspects, Interactive meetings were organized with MOEF,CPCB,FIMI. Field visits to understand the BMPs on social and environmental aspects of mining, thermal power plants& Smelter related activities at integrated mining complex of the VEDANTA at Rajpura- Dariba, were undertaken. An interactive session at IBM, Udaipur was organized with the IBM, RSPCB, RSEAC, DMG, Rana Pratap Agricultural University (Mining Engg.) Professors Sight seeing visits at Udaipur & Delhi were also undertaken.
