Centre of Mining Environment organises National Conference on “Sustainable Development of Groundwater Resources in Industrial Regions” (SDGRIR ’12) March 22-23, 2012

National conference on Sustainable Development of Groundwater Resources in Industrial Regions (SDGRIR ’12) was organized by Centre of Mining Environment at ISM Dhanbad on account of World Water Day, March 22nd and Silver Jubilee Celebration of Centre of Mining Environment at ISM, Dhanbad.

 

Over 100 delegates, researchers and students from all over India attended and 51 technical/ scientific papers were presented. Inaugural function was graced by Chief Guest Shri S. L. S. Jageshwar, Ground Water Directorate (Govt. of Jharkhand, , Guest of Honour, Prof. T. N. Singh (IIT Bombay), Guest of Honour, Shri D. C. Jha, (DT/BCCL)), Prof D. C. Panigrahi, Director, ISM, Dhanbad, Dr. Prasoon Kr. Singh, Convenor, and Dr. Anshumali, Organizing Secretary, SDGRIR ’12. Conference were subdivided among five Technical Sessions in two days as per various themes related to Groundwater pollution and its Management. Eminent speaker’s including Senior Govt. officials, faculty members and R & D Scientist, experienced managers, drawn from all over the country deliberated on sustainable development of Groundwater Resources.

 

Finally Panel Discussion were held under the Chairmanship of Dr. Dipankar Saha, Regional Director, MER, CGWB, Patna and concluded by several recommendations. The Valedictory function was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Sunil Kumar Burnwal, DC, Dhanbad, Guest of Honour Dr. Dipankar Saha, MER/CGWB, Guest of Honour Mr. S. P. Verma,Chief Engineer, DVC, Prof D. C. Panigrahi, Director, ISM, Dhanbad and Dr. Prasoon Kr. Singh, Convenor . Dr P K Singh proposed the vote of thanks. The two days conference ended by highly motivated issues on protection of this valuable resources.
