Training Programme on “Mining Environment & Ecology”

Three days off-campus Training Programme on “Mining Environment & Ecology” for Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) was organized at Management Training Institute, Ranchi from June 13-15, 2011 by the Depart of Environmental Sc. & Engg, ISM for the Executives of SAIL. Twenty eight participants from Raw Materials Division (RMD) Mines and BSP Mines were attended the training. The aim of the programme was to enhance the skills to manage Ecology and Environment in an effective way by giving them exposure of basic concepts of Ecology, Forestry programme, Deforestation management, air & water pollution management, Hydrology & rainwater harvesting, role of remote sensing & GIS, EIA & legislation, Environment & forest clearance, wildlife management, CSR activities and sustainable development of mines through biodiversity conservation. Shri. Hari Haran (DGM, HR, MTI) and Prof SK Maiti (PI) briefed the objectives and importance of training programme during inaugural session. Different faculty members of the department discussed their relevant topics in interactive manners. Prof AK Pal (HOD) presented the action plan for sustainable development of mines and valedictory session was chaired by Shri Manas R Panda (GM, HRD, MTI). Shri Atanu Mukherjee, AGM (Acad) & Sr Faulty Member (MTI, SAIL) was programme co-ordinator.
