Centre of Mining Environment (CME) organised ninth Professor S.K.Bose Memorial Lecture on December 27, 2010 at GJLT. Prof. B.B.Bhattacharya, INAE Distinguished Professor, Formerly Director Indian School of Mines delivered this special lecture on “Global Warming, Energy Security, Carbon Sequestration and some related Problem” wherein he outlined the problems of Global Warming, CO2 emissions and their sources. Prof. Bhattacharya outlined that we can not go beyond the dependency on coal for our energy security atleast for next few decades. Prof. Bhattacharya discussed various alternatives to solve the problem. Finally he concluded that capturing and storage of CO2 is the only solution.
