Vigilance Awareness Week - 2020

Vigilance Awareness Week 2020 was observed at IIT (ISM) ENVIS Centre (RP), Department of Environmental Science & Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), Dhanbad on October 27, 2020 up to November 02, 2020. This is observed every year during the week in which the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (31st October) falls.

 

 

The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week renews our commitment to achieve the goals of promoting integrity, transparency and accountability in public life and to lay greater emphasis on generation of awareness among the public as a more effective and sustainable means of fighting corruption.

 

 

The theme for this year Vigilance Awareness Week is “ सतर्क भारत, समृद्ध भारत - Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat (Vigilant India, Prosperous India)”. The observance of the Vigilance Awareness Week commenced with the pledge, taken by the Faculty Members, Technical Superintendent and Staffs of the department along with IIT(ISM) ENVIS Staffs, by strictly adhering to the extant Covid-19 prevention guidelines such as wearing masks, 'Do Gaj ki Doori' and washing one's hands at all locations and events.

 

 

In total about 21 nos. of Faculty Members, Technical Superintendent and Staffs were present who took the Integrity Pledge. Few members who were not physically present at the time of pledge, took the pledge online through CVC portal.

 

 

Addressing the Faculty Members, Technical Superintendent & staffs present, Prof. S.K. Gupta, HOD/ESE & IIT(ISM) ENVIS Coordinator discussed the importance of good governance and the effective use of control measures to improve performance and to eliminate corruption. He also discussed that our Department should focus on internal (housekeeping) activities, such as improvement of internal processes, time bound disposal of work and systemic improvements leveraging technology. He said that we should identify and implement systemic improvements within our department for the betterment of the department and hence the institute as a whole.
