NLC Organised National Level Seminar on 'Best Practices and Latest Trends in Procurement Practices'

A Two day National Level Seminar was conducted by NLC India Ltd., on 'Best practices and Latest Trends in Procurement Process' at Neyveli on 15th and 16th of February, 2019. The seminar was inaugurated by Shri Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, by lighting the Kuthuvilakku in presence of Shri N. M. M. Rao, Director (Planning & Projects), Shri V. Thangapandian, Director (Power) and Shri Prabhakar Chowki, Director (Mines) of NLCIL. The Inaugural function was graced by Shri V. Thangapandian, Director (Power), Shri Prabhakar Chowki, Director (Mines), Senior officials of NLCIL, delegates and participants. The concept of the Seminar was explained by Shri Nadella Naga Maheswar Rao, Director (P&P). He further stressed the need to give adequate importance to MSME vendors and to implement 'Make in India' guidelines in letter and spirits.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rakesh Kumar said that, Public Procurement is more than 20% of GDP of the country and therefore it is immensely important to ensure transparency, accountability and economically competitive price for goods and services. He further said that e-marketing has already gained momentum in NLCIL.

 

Souvenir released

 

Shri Rakesh Kumar later released a souvenir. V. Thangapandian, Director/Power, Prabhakar Chowki, Director/Mines, senior officials of NLCIL and delegates participated.

 

Nadella Naga Maheswar Rao, Director/P&P, stressed the need to give adequate importance to MSME vendors and implement “Make in India” guidelines in letter and spirit.

 

Bhanu Kumar, Director of MSTC, participated in the valedictory session as guest of honour.

 

According to an NLCIL press note, messages from Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Sumanta Chaudhuri, Secretary, Union Ministry of Coal and Mines, and Radha Chauhan, CEO, Government e-Marketplace (GeM) were read out at the event.

 

The Acts and Guidelines on the Public Procurement Policy of the Union Government with reference to micro small enterprises, domestic suppliers, start-up companies, the Make in India policy and procurement through the newly developed Government Procurement Portal GeM and their compliance in PSUs and e-auction were the main topics of discussion at the seminar.

 

A total of 200 delegates, including 55 delegates from various public sector enterprises, attended the sessions.

 

Various firms had also put up stalls.
