The annual Mines Safety Week was celebrated by Utkal Alumina in Rayagada yesterday. The event was inaugurated by the company’s president R Nageswara Rao.

The event was attended by convenor of safety inspection team & IMFA mines senior manager, Kamal Lochan Mishra and R Ali, deputy chief controller of explosives, Bhubaneswar.

The inspection team appreciated the safety measures as no deaths in mine related accidents were recorded in the district.

“All training and records are being maintained here as per rules. I hope that the company continues to maintain the highest safety standards in the future,” Kamal Lochan Mishra said.

Ali said “I talked with the employees here and learnt that they are provided training on several safety related aspects. The safety measures are up to the mark here.”

Nageswara Rao said “A lot of people come from other mines which increases our awareness about safety measures. We also share our safety practices with them. This is good for the company and we will continue this in future too.”
