The Indian Mining & Engineering Journal, Bhubaneswar with knowledge partner as AKS University of Satna (MP) in close cooperation with HEC Ltd Ranchi held a two day National Workshop on Safety Management of Mining Machinery in Ranchi at Hotel Chanakya BNR, on 28-29 July 2018.
The National Workshop brought together regulators, mine managers, manufacturers of mining machinery, experts and academia. Safety Management has assumed a key and an important role in every mining operations including Mining Machinery with the growth of the mining sector.
Her Excellency, the Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, Smt Draupadi Murmu, was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the workshop. Shri Avijit Ghosh, CMD-HEC Ltd, Shri Gopal Singh, CMD-CCL, Shri Tuhin K. Mukherjee, Managing Director of Essel Mining & Industries Ltd and Shri Anant Kumar Soni, Chairman of AKS University were the guest of honor. Prof P.K. Banik, Vice Chancellor of AKS University presided over the function.
During the inauguration, Shri Avijit Ghosh, CMD-HEC Ltd, Shri Gopal Singh, CMD-CCL, Shri Tuhin K. Mukherjee, Managing Director of Essel Mining & Industries Ltd, were felicitated in recognition of their achievements and 'Life Time Achievement Awards' were presented to them.
The two-day workshop had keynote addresses by Shri A.K.Mishra, Director (Technical) Operations/CCL and Shri Avijit Ghosh, CMD, HEC highlighting the roles of Safety Management in Mining and Mining Machinery Manufacturing and in meeting the need of the industry. Senior officials from the Directorate General of Mines Safety including Dr Ashim Sinha, Dy. DGMS-Ranchi; Shri Sanjivon Roy, DMS-Mines Safety; Shri Agarwal, DMS-Electrical shared their valuable technical and expertise for ensuring an accident-free mine and operations.
There were elaborate case studies and presentations followed by interaction on major topics during the two days deliberations as:-
- Improvement in safety through innovative solution as applicable to mining operations and equipments being used.
- Innovative initiatives to enhance safety, productivity& environmental performance as practised in various coal, iron ore, bauxite and other mines.
- New Technologies in Mining Machinery for improving safety.
- Noise mapping and its reduction/elimination during operations and transportation.
- Safety management and systems followed in the mining and mine related industries with special emphasis on the emerging technologies in electrical, electronics, mechanical, communication and other fields.
- Condition monitoring of underground mines.
Over 120 delegates PAN India would attend and over 24 technical papers will be presented and discussed during the two day workshop.
The topics dwelt with were eye-openers, application-oriented with elaborations on the engineering control systems for ensuring cent-per-cent safety.
The concluding programme ended with a pledge on safety by all the participants PAN India.
