BB Bhattacharya (third from left), professor at SN Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Calcutta, lights a lamp to inaugurate the 89th Foundation Day celebrations of Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, at Penman Auditorium of the institute on Tuesday, while ISM director Durga Charan Panigrahi (second from left) looks on.
Bhattacharya, also the former director of the institute, graced the occasion as chief guest. The celebrations that began around 10am witnessed the felicitation of six employees - Subodh Chandra Paul, Anirban Dutta, Nikola Devi and Kaushalya Devi, faculty members V Kumar (electronics engineering) and BC Sarakar (applied geology) - for completing 25 years of service.
The institute also felicitated staff members of JVN Tech in recognition of their efforts during the rescue operation of ISM students from Bhatinda falls in Moonidih, around 25km from Dhanbad town, on October 24.
