Centre of Mining Environment of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in association with INSEARCH (NGO), conducted a seminar on - "AWARENESS ON: STUDENT & ENVIRONMENT" on 17th December 2013.
Centre of Mining Environment in Association with ‘INSEARCH’, a NGO headed by Mr. Ashok Kant organised a Seminar on “Student and Environment” at Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad on December 17, 2013. The basic objective of the seminar was to focus awareness about environmental issues in school children. Along with faculty members and research scholars of the centre, Mr. D. P Singh, Regional Officer Dhanbad of Jharkhand Pollution Board was provided their thought of various issues. Around 100 school children were attended the seminar.
Many burning issues like the Jharia Coal Fire, Air Pollution in Dhanbad, the Waste treatment from local hospitals and households, the ban of use of polythene bags and the individual contribution of every citizen to save and protect the environment were discussed. Active participation of the student, open discussion with the key speakers and varied questions, doubts and concerns were voiced by the young minds. The overall result of the seminar did elucidate its major theme to spread awareness about environment and its protection among the young generation.
