A student awareness programme on “Awareness among School Children” was organized by MINENVIS, Centre of Mining Environment, ISM, Dhanbad in association with Insearch and Department of Forest, Dhanbad, Jharkhand on 10th August, 2016 at Management Hall, ISM, Dhanbad. This day was also celebrated as World Lion Day.

 

The aim of this programme is to create awareness among school children for the protection of environment. Near about 150 students from various school of dhanbad and other localities were participating in this programme. Dr. S. Chandra, D.F.O, Dhanbad was the chief guest of this programme. He shared his knowledge and valuable opinions related to forest conservation and wildlife with the students. Dr. S.K. Maiti, Professor, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, ISM, Dhanbad presented his valuable view related to environment. Dr. B. Paul, Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, ISM, Dhanbad delivered a special lecture on process of mining accompanying with a mining related video. Dr. Vipin Kumar, Assistant Professor and Co-coordinator of ENVIS Centre, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, ISM, Dhanbad delivered a speech on microbial world and environment. The programme ended with an interactive session where resource persons shared their ideas on various things related to environment and also gave delightful answers to many quarries of the students. Overall the programme was successful at all instances.
