3 Day Training Programme on
“Availability & Management of Water Resources near Mining & Industrial Areas”
• 3 Day Training programme was organized on the topic of “Availability & Management of Water Resources near Mining & Industrial Areas” from December 28th to December 30th, 2015 at the “ISM – Industry Institute Interaction Facility”, NBCC Shopping Centre (2nd Floor), New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata by the Course Co-ordinator Dr. Prasoon Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, ESE Department, ISM, Dhanbad. The Inaugural session were chaired by Dr. Dipankar Saha, Central Ground Water Board, New Delhi. Informative and knowledgeable lectures were given by the Governmental and Industrial experts of various fields. The keynote speakers of the programme were Prof Sakti P. Banerjee, Former Director, ISM, Dhanbad, Dr. Dipankar Saha, Member Secretary, CGWB, New Delhi, Dr. Arijit Dey, CGWB, Jaipur, Prof Asim Kumar Pal, ISM, Dhanbad, Dr. Abhijit Ray, CGWB, Kolkata, Dr. Abhay Kumar Singh, CIMFR, Dhanbad, Prof. Mrinal K. Ghose, Kolkata and by the Course Co-ordinator Dr. P. K. Singh, ISM. The total 33 Participants of well-known Industries and Institutions have attended the training programme, like Central Coalfield Limited, South West Mining Limited, Barmer, Rajasthan; Bharat Coking Coal Limited; Eastern Coalfield Limited; Tata Sponge Iron Limited, Odhisa; Damodar Valley Corporation, Maithon; MECON Limited,Ranchi; Water Resource Department, Govt. of Jharkhand; ESSAR Power Limited; Central Mining Planning and Design Institute Limited; South Eastern Coalfield Limited; NIFFT, Ranchi; Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. In this training programme , several issues related to the topics were discussed by the Experts and the Executives of different organisations like Aspects and challenges of groundwater resource management in Industrial environment, Impact of mining and industrial activity on water resource, Legal aspects of groundwater resource management in mining areas, Water resource conservation through rainwater harvesting techniques near mining & industrial areas and Hydrogeological aspects of mining & its interpretation in Environmental management. On the last day of the training programme all the participants shared their experiences on the topic of the training programme and the valedictory session were chaired by Dr. Abhijit Ray. Dr. P.K.
