XXVI International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC 2012)

The XXVI International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC 2012) was held in Hotel Ashok, New Delhi, India during September 23-28, 2012. More than 1100 delegates from 42 countries participated in this prestigious conference, held for the first time in India. IMPC 2012 was organized jointly by the Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers (IIME) and the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) with support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and the Ministries of Mines, Steel and Coal, Government of India. Several professional organizations from around the world including the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3), The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), The Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan (SCEJ), Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, USA (SME), The South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM), The Association of Powder Process Industry and Engineering, Japan (APPIE), Beijing General Research Institute of Mining & Metallurgy, China (BGRIMM), The Institution of Engineers, India, the Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI), and the Resources Processing Society of Japan (RPSJ), along with the IMPC Council and the next hosts of the Congress, IMPC 2014, Chile, have contributed immensely for the successful organization of the conference.

 

The Congress was supported generously by the mining and minerals industry, not only from India but also from across the world. The Diamond sponsors included Barrick Gold (Canada), BASF (Germany), CITIC Heavy Industries (China), Outotec (India) and Puzzolona (India). FL Smidth (India), Hindustan Zinc (India), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC, India)), Tega Industries (India) and TOMS (Russia) were the Gold sponsors and CDE Asia (India), MBE (India), Longi (China) and Jindal Steel and Power (India) were the silver sponsors. Inaugural Function

 

The Congress was inaugurated at 9:30 AM on Monday September 24, 2012 by Professor Samir K. Brahmachari, Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Secretary DSIR, Government of India in the Convention Hall of Hotel Ashok. He was also the Chief Guest of the inaugural function and emphasized the need for innovation in the utilization of minerals and metals. Earlier, Dr.Pradip, President, IMPC 2012, Prof. BK Mishra, Chairman, Organizing Committee, IMPC 2012 and Professor Cyril O’ Connor, Chairman, IMPC Council welcomed all the delegates to IMPC 2012. Mr. Hemant Nerurkar, Managing Director, Tata Steel, President, Indian Institute of Metals and the Chairman, Steering Committee, IMPC 2012 addressed the gathering. Professor R. Venugopal, President, Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers (IIME) also spoke on this occasion. More than 1350 participants were present during the inaugural session.

 

Subsequently, the Technical Exhibition, organized concurrently with IMPC 2012, was inaugurated by Professor Brahmachari at 10:30 AM on the Front Lawns of Hotel Ashok.
