NLCIL gives first aid training to mine workers

 

CUDDALORE | Oct 27, 2017: NLC India Limited (NLCIL), in association with St John Ambulance Association and Tamil Nadu Mine Safety Association, gave hands-on training on first aid for employees of mines in NLCIL and seven other mining companies at a three-day workshop.

 

An expert panel trained 80 employees from NLCIL and 29 employees from different mining companies on first aid measures in case of head injury, fractures, haemorrhage and cardiac arrest. They also trained them on domestic and industrial safety.

 

NLCIL chairman and managing director S K Acharya said the company had trained 529 employees from 2016 till now. He appealed to the employees to voluntarily come forward to help people in distress. He appreciated St John Ambulance Association for training employees on safety measures.

 

Established in 1877, St John Ambulance Association has been involved in teaching and training employees on first aid. The association has more than five lakh volunteers worldwide as on date. In India, it has centres in 23 states. It has a centre in Neyveli and has been organising various programmes in association with the medical branch of NLCIL.
