MEMC Week celebrated with enthusiasm

FINAL day and prize distribution ceremony of 28th Mining Environment and Mineral Conservation Week (MEMC) under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) for the year 2017, has been hosted by MOIL Limited, at its premises at Nagpur recently. Total 32 mines, comprising of manganese, iron ore, limestone, kyanite and bauxite ore participated. All mines have been categorised in three different groups namely highly mechanised, underground and manual mines.

 

Ranjan Sahai, Controller General (I/C), was the chief guest, while Montu Biswas, Controller of Mines and T K Pattanaik, Director (Commercial) were the guests of honour. Arun Prasad, Regional Controller of Mines, was the patron and Dipankar Shome, Executive Director (Tech) of MOIL was the Chairman of the Committee. Mukund P Chaudhari, CMD of MOIL Limited presided over the programme. Shome, explained the theme of the week and appraised that the sustainability will be main philosophy of mine operators.

 

Arun Prasad, Montu Biswas and T K Pattanaik addressed the need of sustainable mining in the country and discussed about the theme of the celebration week “Satat Vikas Hamara Prayas”.

 

During the speech, Ranjan Sahai had given emphasis on sustainable development framework and newly developed star rating of mines which is a unique initiative of Ministry of Mines.

 

M P Choudhari, CMD, MOIL expressed heartfelt thanks to the committee and appreciated the policy and steps taken by Government and IBM for mineral development of the country.

 

The prizes and certificate of participation were given to the award winning mines by the chief guest and others. Manikgard Cement bagged the first in the highly mechanised category, whereas the Munsar Manganese Mine of MOIL was awarded with first prize in underground category and Dighori Mines of R P Golcha was declared as overall winner in the manual category. Kishor Chandraker, Organising Secretary had proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compared by Riyaz Khan, Mine Manager, Kandri Mine.
