Union Coal Secy meets J'khand CM on pending coal mines

Union Coal Secretary Susheel Kumar today met Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das in connection with pending coal mines.

 

Apprising Das of the efforts being made to start the allotted coal mines to Jharkhand, Kumar said there was revenue loss due to non-functioning of mines, an official release said here.

 

Discussions were also held on eight coal mines - Pachwara Central, Kathotia, Ganeshpur, Meral, Lohari, Sitanaga, Saharpur Jamarpani and Keredari, the release said.

 

The state mines department said after getting the report on Pachwara Central from the Deputy Commissioner it would be sent to the Centre for sanction and work would begin soon, the release said.

 

Similarly, proposals for Meral and Sitanaga were being sent to the Centre for sanction, it saia.

 

The Chief Minister directed for quick disposal of issues pertaining to mines and revenue at Kathotia, Ganeshpur and other places.

 

Das said opening of mines would generate employment and economic activity would increase.

 

Work at Keredari would begin as soon as getting forest clearance, the release said.

 

The meeting pondered over production of natural gas, methanol, ammonia, urea and prolypropylene at Urma-pahaditola, Amarkonda and Brahmani in the Santhal Pargana.

 

The meeting also discussed to soon start the Parvatpur mines in Bokaro district.

 

Das said the Central Coalfields Limited could play an important role in the Swachch Bharat Mission by constructing toilets in the nearby villages and blocks of its mining areas under the company's CSR.

 

Secretary to the Chief Minister Sunil Barnwal, Commissioner of Mines A B Siddique and Mines Director S I Minz were present during the meeting.
