Minister paints rosy picture for granite sector

 

Srikakulam | Sept 04, 2016: Minister for Labour and Employment K Atchannaidu predicted bright prospects for granite mining and processing sector in Srikakulam and other districts in the State. He was present at the Uttarandhra Granite Owners Association (UGOA) meeting here on Sunday.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister directed the quarry owners to follow rules as per law and spend some amount from their profits for the development of local villages. As part of single window clearance system, the government has issued the GO No.

 

107 to grant NOCs at tahsildar level, work orders at mines division officers level and environment clearances at the Collectorate.

 

UGOA president K Muralidhar, general secretary K M Hari Kumar and representatives of FAPGI Sambesu Rao and V Narada Reddy demanded industry status for granite mining and processing sector.

 

Trade centres should be established at the district-level for the development of granite sector clusters, parks and SEZs, they said. MP K Rammohan Naidu, Zilla Parishad chairperson Chowdari Dhanalaxmi, MLA G Laxmidevi also spoke. Later, UGOA and FAPGI representatives felicitated Minister K Atchannaidu.
