MCL CMD Mr A N Sahay appeals coal miners to embrace yoga and stay fit

Coal miners engaged in the 24x7 business of ensuring supply of energy-rich dry fuel to the nation today celebrated the first International Yoga Day by performing yogic ‘asanaas’ across the coalfields in Odisha.

 

Special assemblies were organised early today to perform yoga together in all the operational areas and the headquarters of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited here, wherein a large number of officers, staff and their family members participated.

 

Chairman-cum-Managing Director Mr A N Sahay, who along with his Functional Directors Mr P C Panigrahi, Mr A K Tiwari and Chief Vigilance Officer Mr Deepak Srivastava, IFS, joined a special gathering here, says, ‘’ Yoga is a ray of hope in this fast-paced life, where a large number of people are suffering from life-style diseases, like diabetes, hypertension, depression etc.

 

The CMD appealed to all the coal miners in the operational areas to embrace yoga and stay fit and healthy. ‘’Yoga will certainly help us stay always fit and healthy notwithstanding constant work pressure in the tough mining environment,’’ Mr Sahay said.

 

Jagriti Mahila Mandal president Ms Anju Sahay, vice-presidents Ms Anita Tiwari and Ms Gitanjali Panigrahi and Secretary Ms Shashi Jain also participated in special yoga session.

 

Similar Yoga sessions were organsied in all the Project Areas of the company, spread over in Angul, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh districts of Odisha.

 

A subsidiary of Coal India, MCL is second largest coal mining company in the country. It has a big target of producing 150 million tonne coal during the current financial year.
