The country’s largest iron ore miner said it has been judged exclusively on performance and achievements on the criteria of financial results, innovation, product quality, safety and strategic vision.
“The award recognizes NMDC’s performance in consistently delivering returns to shareholders, while improving environmental efficiencies, implementing technological advances and displaying a commitment to sustainable, forward-thinking solutions,” NMDC said in a statement Sunday.
NMDC is also known to be one of the low-cost producers of iron ore in the world. Currently, it produces more than 30 mt of iron ore annually with an Indian market share of about 20-25 per cent.
To attain global market leadership in the mineral sector, NMDC is undertaking measures like operating highly mechanized iron ore mines with best quality of ore, opening new iron ore mines to enhance iron ore production capacity, aligning with the growth of the steel industry in India, value addition by opening of pellet plants, vertical integration by opening of steel plant, expansion and exploration of diamonds and gold production in India and abroad.
