ISM first off-campus centre in Krishna likely

 

VIJAYAWADA | May 15, 2015: The Dhanbad (Bihar)–headquartered Indian School of Mines (ISM) is exploring the possibility of setting up its first off-campus Regional Centre in the country in Krishna district.

 

An ISM team led by Prof. A.S. Venkatesh and comprising Col. (retired) N.K. Singh, N.R. Mandre and A.K. Mishra inspected lands at Kondapalli, Mylavaram and Trilochanapuram (Ibrahimpatnam) inspected land at Mylavaram on Wednesday and the team is scheduled to visit Machilipatnam on Thursday.

 

Krishna Collector Babu A. told the media on Wednesday that the ISM team had already visited Visakhapatnam and would be on a two-day visit to the district. The ISM Regional Centre was bound to come up at either of those places.

 

The ISM Regional Centre would start off with seismic and oceanic studies, for which necessary laboratories would be set up, and later the centre would get into academics.

 

It would not be doing any exploration of the mine and mineral resources available in Andhra Pradesh.

 

As many as 300 acres is needed to set up the facility.
