Yamunanagar (Har) | March 15, 2015: 26 drivers were taken into custody and as many trucks were impounded in various parts of Yamunanagar district for allegedly involved in illegal mining, police said today.
Haryana Police caught 26 trucks carrying illegal sand and gravel last night at several check posts, set up to vigil illegal mining activities in the district, police said.
The drivers of the trucks have been taken into custody and are being interrogated, they said.
Strict actions would be taken against those found involved in illegal mining and their vehicles would also be seized, police said.
A campaign has been launched by police in the district against the smugglers, police said.
