Don't work for sand miners, DM tells villagers

GREATER NOIDA | March 12, 2015: Gautam Budh Nagar DM N P Singh has urged residents of the villages along the Yamuna and Hindon not to work for the several sand miners operating in the region.

The DM said mining is a social issue and its end without public participation is not possible. "Many innocent village youths are engaged in sand mining. Without the support of villagers, nobody can mine sand in the region," he said.

"I'm travelling from one village to another, explaining the implications of illegal sand mining. We have asked them to cooperate with the district administration," said Singh. He also admitted that some government officials are protecting sand miners.

Singh recently visited the riverbed areas in a private car and saw rampant sand mining being carried out. A furious DM directed the Noida police to chalk out a plan to end mining activity in the district.

"We have fixed responsibility of police and administration officials and efforts will be taken not to allow even a single dumper to leave this district. I will continue with my late night surprise visits," the DM said.
