Date | March 06, 2015: The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau has decided to implement an island-wide program to identify sand and soil deposits that can be used with minimum impact to the environment.
The Director General of the Bureau Bernard Preyam stated that this program will be carried out at a district level adding that teams will be deployed for this purpose. The program was initiated on the recommendations of the President.
He also noted that under this program all sand mines will be examined adding that a report on areas conducive for the mining of sand and soil will be prepared through this program.
