Kolkata | Feb 14, 2015: India and South Africa have agreed to revive the MoU, signed in 1997, for cooperation in mining sector.
The present overall bilateral trade between the two countries of BRICS grouping is about $11 billlion. There are about 150 Indian companies working in South Africa. India is the largest buyer of South African gold and coal.
During his visit to Africa early this week, the Union Steel and Mines Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar, also had discussion to pave way for the signing a MoU to formalise a structured engagement between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and India.
Copper and cobalt are the two mining resources of DRC, a Ministry release said.
