In a move to check illegal transportation of sand from the district, Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad has instructed the authorities to set up check-posts and maintain round the clock surveillance to stop illegal sand mining.
At a meeting with the revenue authorities here on Tuesday, the Collector said that the sand should not be transported illegally and instructed the revenue and police authorities to maintain strict vigilance. The sand should not be transported in lorries and the tractors would supply the sand for the local requirements in the district, she maintained. Expressing concern over over-loading granite lorries, she informed the vigilance authorities to check over-loading and illegal transportation of granite without weigh-bills. Instructing the revenue authorities to identify the government lands for taking up various developmental works, she directed them to identify the lands allocated to the central governments and private agencies and its utilisations.
