Mukherjee had visited Dalmia and PBS mining areas on Tuesday and obtained information on reclamation and rehabilitation measures taken up at the sites.
Following the Supreme Court orders, the State government has decided to grant 51 ‘C’ category mining leases and it was in this background that Mukherjee visited the mines, sources said.
It is also said that the chief secretary discussed possibilities of afforestation measures using the mining waste dumped in forest areas.
The Chief Secretary is said to give his report during the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday.
